Coaching Teenage Girls in Sport Workshops
Join Sport Ireland for an enlightening workshop where they delve into the intricacies of girls' participation in sports and explore strategies to foster their engagement and retention.
Did you know that according to the Community Sport and Physical Activity Participation Survey (CSPPA) of 2018, one in three girls drops out of community sports? It's a startling statistic that begs the question: what can we do to reverse this trend? The answer lies in understanding the unique challenges and needs that teenage girls face in the realm of sports and physical activity.
These workshops comprise four comprehensive modules designed to equip coaches with the knowledge and tools necessary to support girls in their sporting journey. From addressing psycho-social needs to navigating the complexities of body image and maturation, these workshops cover a range of crucial topics. They'll also discuss key considerations for coaching girls aged 12 to 17, as well as strategies for preparing them to overcome the challenges of adolescence.
But that's not all! Sport Ireland offer multiple avenues for learning, ensuring that coaches can absorb and apply the insights gained from the workshop effectively. From pre-workshop tasks that encourage reflection to post-workshop activities aimed at real-world application, they provide a holistic learning experience that empowers coaches to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the girls they mentor.
Sign up to this journey to empower girls in sports. Together, we can create a supportive and inclusive environment where every girl feels valued and empowered to unleash her full potential on and off the field.
