Her Moves X Ploughing

The Her Moves team had an incredible time at The National Ploughing Championships, partnering with Sport Ireland for a day full of exciting activities and inspiring conversations.

Last Wednesday, four of our amazing Her Moves ambassadors Eve, Caoimhe, Aishling and Amy, led a jam-packed day of fun that brought together teenage girls from all over Ireland. From crafting bracelets to taking on dance fitness classes, the day was all about connecting, learning new skills and, most importantly, having fun. Here’s a look at how the day unfolded and what our ambassadors learned.

Ambassadors LeadiNg the Way!

Our team kicked off the day early, arriving early in the morning for an action-packed day. After getting their uniforms and meeting the rest of the crew, the girls were ready to go.

The day started with a creative session of friendship bracelet making. This was the perfect opportunity for the girls to get to know each other, relax and chat.

Next, our ambassadors took on a new challenge: rock climbing, with the guidance of experts from Mountaineering Ireland. They pushed their limits and proved that trying new things is always worth it. What a way to lead by example! 👏

Capturing the Moments and Connecting with Others

In the afternoon, our teen ambassadors grabbed cameras and microphones to document their day by taking photos, making TikToks, and interviewing other girls at the event. They connected with teenage girls from across Ireland, asking them about their experiences with sports, the challenges they’ve faced, and their goals for the upcoming school year.

What the Girls Learned

Through these conversations and activities, our ambassadors learned what the most important part of sport and activity was to teenage girls:

  • Friendship First: Many girls shared that doing activities with friends made everything more fun. Whether it was rock climbing, being creative, or dancing, having their best friends with them was the best part.
  • Getting Outdoors: For most of the girls, spending time outside was a top priority. It’s a great reminder to get out in the fresh air and enjoy being outside whenever possible!
  • Adventure: The girls loved the opportunity to try something new, whether it was crafting bracelets, joining a dance fitness class, or setting a goal to participate in new sports teams at school. They embraced the challenge of stepping outside their comfort zones.
  • Strength and Fitness: Many girls mentioned how important to them it was to feel strong. Whether it’s through dancing or going to the gym, feeling strong and full of energy is something they’re aiming for.

A High-Energy Finish with Pilar Lokko

The day wrapped up with a high-energy Dance Fitness Class led by the incredible Pilar Lokko (@pilarlokko.fitness). Pilar brought the energy to the Government tent, getting everyone up, moving, and laughing as they enjoyed the workout. It was a fantastic reminder that fitness can be both fun and challenging, leaving everyone feeling confident and strong.

A Successful Day

Her Moves at the National Ploughing Championships was a huge success. The day was filled with friendship, activity, and plenty of fun. Our ambassadors: Eve, Caoimhe, Aishling, and Amy, were fantastic! They embodied the spirit of Her Moves, showing everyone how much fun, it can be to try new activities and meet new people.

We can’t wait to host more events like this and meet more amazing teenage girls who are ready to challenge themselves, get active, and have fun! Stay tuned for our next Her Moves event!
