TEENAGE GIRL CAMPS – BADMINTON IRELAND
This summer Badminton Ireland were delighted to host ‘Teen Girl Camps’, for the first time ever, in Meath, Cavan and Cork! Below is an article about the unique Her Moves x Badminton Ireland experience.
After listening to feedback from pervious teenage girls’ programmes. Badminton Ireland created its first ever ‘Teen Girls Camps’. A camp for teenage girls to play in a fun environment, with girls their own age and coached by inspiring female coaches.
Cork was jam packed. The girls spent the day learning new skills and got to take part in a different activity every night. The new ‘Her Moves’ programme ‘Shuttle Rocks’ was brought to life. The girls spent the night playing glow in the dark Badminton as well as singing, dancing and designing their space.
In Cavan the girls were treated to a meet and greet with 2024 Paris Olympian Rachael Darragh. Rachael gave the girls ‘goodie bags’ and chatted about all thing’s badminton, Olympics and being a female in sport. What a privilege to have such a star with the girls in Cavan!
It was just fantastic to see all the girls across Meath, Cork and Cavan, playing badminton, getting active and making new friends. The girls went home with goodie bags, a badminton t-shirt and hopefully a growing enthusiasm for getting out and getting active.
With many young girls now going on to join a badminton club, Badminton Ireland look forward to running many more of these ‘Teen Girl Camps’ in the future.
